The Gladio Alato knife is the result of a collaboration between the Maserin company and the CFA 'Centro Formazione Aeromobile'. The aim was to create a dagger specifically for the 66th Airborne Infantry Regiment 'Trieste', the only airborne infantry unit in the Italian Army. The project was a success and the 966 knife was produced. The Gladio owes its name to its square blade, reminiscent of the classic sword. N690 stainless steel with DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating has been used to strengthen it and prevent corrosion and wear. The shape of the handle is based on military tactical knives, but has been improved by machining G10 to give a better grip and ensure a firm hold. It also has a glass breaker at the end and two holes in the guard to allow you to add more items to the knife if you need to. The sheath is made of tough Kydex with M.O.L.E. attachments for unique versatility.
