The Rin model owes its name to the ideogram 凛 ‘solemn’ or ‘majestic’. For the production of this knife, the Japanese company Rockstead decided to use innovative technologies and traditional methods, such as the ‘Naguri’ technique used for the red ebonite handle cheeks. This is the same technique that the Japanese have used for foundations, walls and floors since ancient times to erect castles and temples and today for building houses. For the titanium clip, on the other hand, it was decided to use the ‘hidden clip system’, which allows it to be raised and lowered, ensuring an extra comfortable and secure grip on the knife. The blade is made of ZDP189 steel. This can cut Manila tails, known for their strength and used for marine cables and fishing nets, as many as 1,000 times and still continue to cut paper cleanly. This is possible thanks to the 30° angle in the middle of the blade that becomes 24° towards the tip.
